Last night’s show up at Vina Robles Ampitheatre was the ultimate blast from the past, featuring Young MC, Tone Loc, Color Me Badd, All 4 One, Kid N Play and Vanilla Ice. As if the epic throwback wasn’t enough the place was packed, even in though it poured rain the entire time.
I got to shoot the first song of each act from the soundboard a decent distance from the stage. Initially I was a little bummed I wouldn’t be able to work from the pit, but the driving rain added so much cool atmosphere to the shots being taken from far away.

Last night was a little adventure in Big Sur. Having not met the wonderful couple prior to shooting this surprise proposal I knew it would be, and I loved everything about it. Phone service is spotty at best in Big Sur and we decided on a meeting place at Treebones Resort – the restaurant bathroom to be discreet and to finalize the location of the special moment.
I spent the afternoon searching for a spot I thought would be perfect for late golden hour as the couple would be walking up to dinner, and everything was looking prime for winning light until about an hour before the big question was to be asked – that darn fog wasn’t messing around. So when we met up I was happy an audible was called and I secretly followed them up Highway 1 to Naciemento Road where we hoped to get above the fog. Luckily we didn’t need more than a switchback up the road to get a perfect Big Sur view while the blood, red sun (from the ongoing fire’s haze) peeked below the marine bank. I parked my car a few turnouts beyond them, walked up the road and had the honor of capturing some of the happiest moments of Kelly & Nick’s lives. Below are a few of my favorites.
